This Year
Based in Nuneaton, not far from the convention hotel, the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for sick and injured birds and animals. Their aim is to rescue wildlife from the Warwickshire area to nurture, care for and hopefully release back into the wild.
In February 2001, the Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary opened its doors and one of their very first casualties was a swan that had crash landed on the M6, thankfully only in shock and with no permanent injuries, it was released successfully. Since then, Geoff and Emma Grewcock, with a small team of volunteers, have been looking after the animals that end up in their care - they’ve had over 320 swans pass through their doors, but they have also had to deal with all kinds of local wildlife - from foxes, deer, owls, badgers, goats, ducks, rabbits, geese to unwanted domesticated pets.
Their routines include feeding and tending to the animals, providing care to injuries, educating the local area on animal welfare and their work and rescuing wildlife using their ambulances. But this work is limited by the availability of resources as they operate solely on charitable donations.
In November 2006, the Sanctuary became a registered charity and has lately been seeking donations to help them to move, from the Nuneaton bungalow they are currently based in, to larger premises. They raise money however they can by visiting schools and local events, asking for spare pennies, larger monetary donations, and through an ebay store.
ConFuzzled is hoping attendees can help contribute to the Sanctuary’s goal to raise the funds required for a move to a bigger plot of land. Attendees will have the opportunity to help by donating directly to the sanctuary, purchasing their items from the Dealers’ Den and by bidding on artwork and other items in the auction that carry a charity percentage.
With the astonishing support attendees showed in 2011, the convention is hoping that everyone will be just as generous to a local charity that’s just a stone’s throw from ConFuzzled’s new home.

Last Year

For ConFuzzled 2011 we supported the International Otter Survival Fund and with the help of our attendees and a sizeable donation from Microsoft, we raised £10,000 in support of the otters. We’d like again to thank all of our attendees who purchased charity items in the Dealers Den, donated or bid on charity-marked art in the Auction and provided individual donations.
