Travelling By Train
  • ... Back to the main Location And Travel page.

You can visit The Trainline- to find train times, fares and book your ticket.

Please be aware that in the UK you may find it cheaper to buy two advance single tickets instead of a return, but you are restricted as to what trains you can get with these.

Manchester has two "main" railway stations,

Manchester Piccadilly (MAN)- - Served by long distance InterCity trains from all over the country and local services to/from Manchester Airport.

Note: You can either get the Metrolink (and a short walk) or a train to the venue (and a short walk).

Manchester Victoria (MCV)- - Mostly served by local and regional services.

Note: You'll need to get the Metrolink to Piccadilly station if you arrived here.

The closest railway station to the site is Manchester Deansgate (DGT)-* which is ΒΌ of a mile (about 400 metres) away.

Note: Deansgate station is fully accessible, with lifts to both platforms and ramped access to the Ticket Hall.

The main exit from Deansgate station brings you out at the junction of Whitworth Street West and Deansgate.

Upon arrival, proceed on foot by crossing the pedestrian crossing to the first traffic island in front of you, then turn left and cross over Deansgate itself. After doing so, turn RIGHT and walk along Deansgate, then take the 2nd LEFT into Liverpool Road, then the 5th LEFT opposite the Museum of Science and Industry, follow the 'ConFuzzled signposts' into Potato Wharf. The Youth Hostel is behind the Castlefield Hotel.
