Travelling By Car
Manchester is at the heart of the primary route network, well served by Motorways and Trunk Roads, including the A6. Note, however, that parking at the Youth Hostel is limited, however there are plenty of other car parks in the City Centre.
From London:
Regardless of where you start from, you're almost certain to end up taking the following as the majority of your route:
Take the M1 Northbound to Junction 19.
Join the M6 Northbound.
You can either stick on the "mainline" M6, or take the M6 Toll to bypass the horribly congested bit through the Midlands.
Whichever option you choose, leave the M6 at Junction 21A and join the M62 Eastbound. Continue to Junction 3 and join the A57 towards Manchester (Central).
After crossing Regent Bridge, turn LEFT onto the A6042, then almost immediately RIGHT onto the A6143.
Follow it round to the RIGHT (where it becomes Liverpool Road) and take the 3rd RIGHT into Potato Wharf.
From Birmingham:
Heading out of town, take the A38(M) heading towards Wolverhampton and Coventry.
Join the M6 Northbound at Gravelly Hill Interchange (Spaghetti Junction).
Continue with the instructions given for travel from London.
From Sheffield:
Head out of town on the A57 (Sheffield Parkway), which turns into the A630 on the way.
Join the M1 Northbound at Junction 33.
Join the M62 Westbound at Junction 42.
Continue down the M62 until it becomes the M60, then proceed to Junction 12 and join the M602 Eastbound towards the City Centre.
