If you are arriving into Manchester Airport, there is a short rail link to the city centre, where you'd need to get the tram. We'd recommend the purchase of a "Rail Ranger-" ticket as it will cover you for both methods of travel and is quite cheap at under £4.

Full fare airlines fly to Manchester Airport- as well as several low-cost carriers, which is about 15 minutes train connection from the City Centre and you would arrive at Manchester Piccadilly, where we recommend the Metrolink connection.

Low-cost airlines also fly to Liverpool John Lennon (LPL)- which is about an hour away and has a bus-link to Manchester as well as train services.

You can find a list of places with direct flights to Manchester on Manchester Airport's website.

If you can't get a direct flight to Liverpool or Manchester, connections are available from London Heathrow (LHR)-, Gatwick (LGW)-, Stansted (STN)- and London City Airport (LCY)-.
