    Connections In Manchester

Once you arrive in Manchester, you might be wondering how to get to us. This is why we've included handy connection guides below.

    Connecting by Tram (Metrolink)

(Also see Getting There By Metrolink for a step-by-step picture guide)

Manchester has its own tram system, called Metrolink, which runs from Eccles and Altrincham through the City Centre to Bury. As well as serving the two main National Rail stations in Manchester (Piccadilly and Victoria), it gets relatively close to the Youth Hostel at G-Mex, which is served by Altrincham and Eccles services.

You need to board a tram which is going to either Eccles or Altrincham, alighting at G-Mex.

From G-Mex tram stop, cross the tram tracks (assuming you've come from the City Centre, that is) so that you're on the same side as the Manchester Central Convention Complex (formerly the G-Mex Centre) and turn LEFT, follow the signs for the Museum of Science and Industry/Castlefield Lift.

Go down the stairs or use the lift/elevator.

Upon exiting the lift/stairwell, either follow the 'ConFuzzled signposts' or turn LEFT, then take the 1st RIGHT, then turn LEFT into Liverpool Road, then LEFT again opposite the Museum of Science and Industry into Potato Wharf.

    Connecting by Bus (Metroshuttle)

(Also see Getting There By Metroshuttle Bus for a step-by-step picture guide)

Metroshuttle is a FREE bus service operating on three routes around the city centre.

The route that gets closest to the Youth Hostel is route 2, which runs part of the way down Liverpool Road, and serves Oxford Road, Deansgate and Manchester Victoria stations, and Shudehill Interchange.

Manchester Piccadilly and Salford Central stations, Piccadilly Gardens Bus Station and Manchester Central Coach Station are served by route 3, which has an interchange with route 2 at the junction of Peter Street and Deansgate, near the Opera House.
